The choir for the 11 o’clock Mass in our parish is a 20-strong youth choir, started three years ago by a small group of youngsters who felt we needed to sing! It has developed steadily since then, and we now have a keyboard player, three guitarists (including a bass player), two violinists, a drummer and thirteen singers who are a cheerful and lively gang whose repertoire is increasing every week.
We normally practice for an hour before the Mass on Sunday, with extra practices for big festivals. Practices are not always solemn affairs, and as well as being hard work, we do manage to enjoy them. And of course it’s lovely when the people say they enjoy the singing at Mass – that makes it worthwhile.
We welcome new members, from high school age to young adults. If you are interested please speak to one of the choir after Mass on Sunday.
